Continuing the Paris Photo-stream of Fabulous Places….
First we went to Versailles, about 30 minutes away from the city. Notice the crowds for the line going in? Not seen in the picture are the other line to the ticket counter and the full tourist bus parking lot next door. What did we do? We made a 180 degrees beeline back to the station. So Versailles is still on my list of places to visit, next time I’m in Paris.
We took a stroll down Avenue des Champs-Elysees. Full of high end stores. We went to some but didn’t buy anything, naturally
*Miris bo liat price tag nya*
Went down the river *again* but this time passing Notre Dame from the back.
Cool Louvre exhibit #1: Syria.
These two creatures are very famous, I’m sure you’ve seen them everywhere. Well the Louvre has these original set because the guy who did the first dig was a French consul. Stupid story was that he actually another major shipment of artifacts, it drowned. *Ya elah………*
Cool Louvre exhibit #2: The Code of Hammurabi
The first recorded constitution in the world, written by Hammurabi. The law is surprisingly very detailed, describing what should be done to a cheating wife, a negligent baby sitter, etc. As you can see, Aldi is very impressed.
Cool Louvre exhibit #3: The Monalisa.
Can you see the resemblance? Hee hee
*Btw, the Louvre is amazingly big. Bigger than the Metropolitan Art Museum in New York. (When we were in Madrid, Antonio said repeatedly that the Prado Museo was really big…. well Antonio, you aint seen nothing yet!)
We ended the night (and our last full day in Europe) with a treat of fine French food. I was most contented by the quality at Le Coude Fou (4 blocks from Hotel De Ville).
Even though it has passed, this is our revised 1 year anniversary dinner. (Actually, we had this instead of a simple sandwich stall after I demanded that Aldi must treat me with French cheese. The cheese is missing from this picture, but it was nonetheless excellent)
