When friends visit me, I take them shopping. Nine West. Gap. DKNY. Banana Republic.
When my mother visited me, we went to Home Depot, Staples and any hardware store that we stumbled upon.
We were in those stores for quite some time, the store attendant actually said
- “Can I help you?” - at least 6 times
- “Are you lost?” – no, but I lost my mother somewhere here
- “You are back!” – when my mom insisted I leave her at Staples while I run my errands.
She was so happy, you can practically see her grin as she touched each and every single type of sand paper available. (Yes, she did touched all of them!)
So the next time you are in a staples or home depot, consider buying these extra useful gadgets, because they are all mommy-approved.

Magnetic erasable markers with an eraser cap.
Stick these on your fridge. If you have a white glossy fridge, use it as the white board.
Use it for quick phone messages or scribbles of recipes.

Magnetic tape with adhesive
Turn any post card, ticket stubs or other memorabilia into fridge magnets.

Picture hanging strips
Don’t ruin your wall. Use these instead of nails for common frames.
holds up to 10lbs with the big strips

Measuring bottle??
This might not be everywhere and I cant really find the correct name.
But this is a bottle with markings for dressing recipes. What a nifty idea!
Make one of your own. Maybe a tumbler for making cocktails?

Plastic tubing
Use this to wrap chair legs, particularly those ones tripping you all the time.

Palm Vegetable Peeler
Put it on like a ring, peel your carrots and cucumbers like a pro.

Strawberry de-core-er??
Not sure how to actually use this, but I’m told it helps you a lot when you make lots of strawberry juice.
I think it scoops out the core of the fruit easily. I think.

Glow in the dark silly putty
Fun times!

Carabiner misting fan
Apparently very useful when you go for Hajj ?

EZComb
The easy way to tame that unruly hair. (I think she was specifically eyeing my hair)

Mighty Mendit
If you can’t work those needle and thread. (Again… I think she was eyeing me)

Shoe saver / organizer
I keeps away dust and it makes your daily shoe choice easier
because you can see multiple shoes at once through the clear plastic.
She also liked the same thing but hanging on the back of the door, but I told her she could only buy one.

Every home has to have one
To weigh the luggage, you don’t want to pay that extra $150 for overweight luggage
PS: These are actually not in my “top ten weirdest things mom bought”. Those are hardcore. Diamond tipped ceramic cutter, anyone?
